Introduction
Game Summary
You play as a shadow wizard and try to defeat the holy paladin king. You play cards and create shadows to summon shadow creatures.
Concept
Gameplay Overview
This is a roguelike deckbuilder game. The main gameplay loop consists of a board, a hand of cards, a deck (draw and discard), a player and enemy, and most importantly the cards. There will be different types of cards such as spells, shadow creatures, and objects; each with their own mechanics. The goal of the game will be to defeat the enemy without being killed, by using your summons. Outside the main gameplay loop will be a shop section where the player can buy and/or combine cards. (IDEA SCRAPPED: NOT ENOUGH TIME)
Theme Interpretation (Shadows and Alchemy)
Shadows: The idea behind the game is that the spells you cast are light sources, and need to produce shadows using objects or enemies. The shadows itself don’t do anything, but when stepped on/collided with an enemy or an object will produce a currency (shade spirit) that will be used for summoning shadow creatures.
Alchemy: Alchemy in this case will be used for the progression of the game. This involves combining cards to create better cards, just like combining potions. (IDEA SCRAPPED: NOT ENOUGH TIME). It has a potion I guess.

Style Choice
With the theme being shadows, it is no surprise that the game will feature a dark atmosphere, taking most inspiration from inscryption

Draw Pile (bottom left) – view your draw pile
Discard Pile (bottom right) – view your discard pile
Draw card (bottom left) – Draw a card
Cards (bottom middle) – Use mouse to drag and drop cards
Objective
The objective of the game is to take down the big boss. You do this by playing your creature cards. However, creature cards cannot be played without shadow money (shade spirit). Thus, you need to use the red potion to cast shadows onto the existing cards on the board, and have those shadows be collected. Prevent the enemies from entering into the frontlines.
Limitations
Time
While the jam lasted for 14 days, I was only able to work on the game for about only the last 4 days, due to a my personal circumstances. This led to having a lot of my key ideas of the game not come into fruition.
